Jose Luis is a sweet, loving boy who has been part of the program since 2012. One of our more advanced English students, Jose Luis lives with his bed-- ridden diabetic mother, step--brother, sister, and occasionally step--father in a one--room dirt--floor shack made of loose boards. His home lacks a proper door and windows. He likes to come to the program to learn English, to play with his classmates, and because he believes he needs to study to have a better life. A naturally shy boy, he has surprising confidence when speaking English. Joses favorite food is chicken, and his favorite activities are going on field trips with our program, especially the annual beach trip. He absolutely adores his English teacher and the food at Casa de los Sueños. He dreams one day of visiting the United States. The values most important to him are listening and respect.
