Present udpate on Greenhouse in Odessa:

Construction of the initial greenhouse went very well and they began growing onions as soon as the greenhouse was ready in November of 2008. They are now growing onions, cabbage, radishes parsley and cucumbers. The only problem is the size of the greenhouse. They are having difficulty finding the room to grow enough produce to both feed the orphanage children and have something left to sell at the market. At this point most of the produce is going to feed the children and they would like to increase the sale of produce to the market. The orphanage director asked me to raise the funding to build a second greenhouse next to the present greenhouse. They will use one greenhouse for orphanage food and the other for sale of produce. I felt this was an excellent idea and would encouage anyone interested to consider funding this project. Igor Shepetya runs a local construction company that has been doing this work in conjunction with Frontier Horizon for many years. Igor did the bathroom repair and medical clinic renovation at orphanage # 4. The Project Manager chose Natalya Borisova a small vender at a local Odessa market because of her close proximity to the orphanage. The sale of vegetables at the market is as follows: onions - 35 UAH for 1 kilogram, radishes - 15 UAH for 1 kg, cabbage 20 UAH for 1 kg, cucumbers - 20 UAH for 1 kg, parsley - 15 UAH for 1 kg. (Conversion rate: 1 USD = 7.6 UAH). Please consider donating to expand this specific project or expanding the Greenhouse to other orphanages.
